Is SHS Online licensed?

The National Schools Inspectorate Authority has licensed SHS Online.

What is online schooling?

Fully online high schools are just like traditional schools, except students learn from the comfort of their homes or anywhere in the world. Like traditional schools, online students study with a teacher, interact with their classmates, and take exams. 

What documents do I need to submit to complete my application?

You will be required to submit by email a copy of your junior high school results or certificate, Ghana card, and a passport-size photo.

What is the application fee?

The application is free of charge.

Do I need to buy textbooks or any supplementary material to complete my course?

You will be required to purchase your textbooks at a bookshop near you.

How will I take my online classes?

Your teacher will send you an email in which you will be provided with a link that will give you access to the online classroom. You will be attending classes via either Zoom or Google Meet.

How many classes will I attend each day?

You may be required to attend 2 or 3 classes each day throughout the programme. A class lasts for 60-70 minutes.

What is your refund policy?

One month’s notice is required in writing before withdrawing a student from the school. There is no refund of fees for whatever reason after one week into a term.

Where will I pay my tuition fees?

You will pay to a bank account. Bank account details will be provided in your admission letter.

How are online lessons taught?

The online class is led by a teacher who will share his or her computer screen with you and speak to the text or images displayed on your computer screen. You will hear the teacher audibly in your headphones. The teacher will be asking questions from time to time during the class to ensure you understand everything taught. The online platform provides students the opportunity to ask questions during classes.

How can I contact school administrators and teachers?

Our administrative staff and teachers are available year-round via telephone, email, and live chat.

Do you have term breaks?

There will be 2 term breaks every year, each lasting 4 weeks.

Who’s responsible for my WASSCE registration fees?

Students are responsible for the WASSCE registration fees.

Where will I write the WASSCE?

SHS Online students are to be registered as private candidates for the WAEC examinations. WAEC has an examinations centre at all regional capitals and Tema. At the time of WASSCE registration, students will be required to select the region and centre at which they wish to write the examination.

Where will I do my Practicals?

Depending on your location, the school will arrange with a high school near you where
you will be meeting your tutor to take your course practicals. With WAEC practical
examinations, WAEC will assign you to a high school near you.

Does SHS Online accept non-Ghanaian students?

Yes. SHS Online accepts students from WAEC participating countries – Ghana, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Liberia and the Gambia.
